MY NAME IS CARLOS HIDALGO GIBBS, BETTER KNOWN ASCARLOS GIBBS. I’M FROM VENEZUELA! THE COUNTRY WHERE IGREW UP. FROM A VERY YOUNG AGE I WAS INTERESTED INART! ESPECIALLY THE ART OF MUSIC. AT FIRST I WASINTERESTED IN SINGING AND THE SOUND OF THE GUITAR!UNTIL I DISCOVERED MY TRUE PASSION! THE DRUM.
When I discovered the drum I began to discover a new world! My mother supportedme from the beginning. She gave me my first drum set, it was a very small andquite basic set. But thanks to the fact that that drum set did not have many pieces,it helped me concentrate very well on the true base of a drum, it helped me to bemore creative with few pieces on the drum.
From there I began to study the drum more, I began to study different techniquesand musical styles, especially Latin rhythms, since I come from the Caribbean! Ilike to combine different musical styles with Caribbean culture” that makes therhythm of the drum more attractive when interpreting music. At the same time, Ibegan to study music at the Federico Villenas Music Institute in my hometown.Continuing my exploration of music and musical styles, at 16 years old I wasalready participating in different bands and musical projects in my hometown. Thatapproach with different musicians led me to record for different artists and veryimportant musical groups in my country. At that point, I became very interested inbeing a session drummer! As a session drummer, I began to play on the drum fordifferent very important groups and artists in my country, Venezuela.
In 2017, I embarked on my journey to China! A country that welcomed me withopen arms. I have now been living and working in China for eight years, a countrythat has provided me with many opportunities and incredible experiences. Here inChina, I have had the opportunity to work for different companies and businessesin the country, as well as nightclub chains. I have also worked for several five-starhotels. Of course, always in the entertainment sector, in the musical field.
